Health Testing

Health testing is an important but often overlooked part of responsible breeding, especially in working breeds. It is often falsely believed that health testing isn’t needed in working breeds because if they were not healthy they would not be able to work, but this is simply not true. Many diseases such as hypothyroidism, hip dysplasia, and epilepsy can be carried silently through a dogs life and show up later in life without warning. While we cannot test for everything, we strive to do as much testing as we can to ensure that we are fully aware of the decisions that we are making when breeding. We strive to produce puppies that can serve as guardians and companions for years to come and always want the longest, healthiest life possible for our puppies.

Below is an outline of the diseases that are of concern in Anatolian Shepherds as well as testing where it is possible and important. As technology evolves to detect diseases and risk factors, so will the health testing we do with our dogs.
